Reverse Testimonials - a way to get backlinks

This might be a really old trick or method to some people here but here is a simple way to get some links. Simply contact vendors/ suppliers or anyone you have ever bought anything from, preferably in the same space you are in, and write them a testimonial about their service or product - and include your link. Simple and can work well especially if your in the same niche. Say you have a web design website and you are happy with your hosting, then contact them and say "Hey, Ill write you a testimonial - just include my name and my website. Thanks" Nothing new here but thought id share.
