Reusing privacy policy question

Today as I was launching a new site I was doing my usual copying of my framework into place and as I was renaming www.domain1.com to www.domain2.com in my privacy policy it got me thinking that the privacy policy is the only thing in my framework that I don't change and keep 99% the same as I spin up new sites. I originally generated it over at www.generateprivacypolicy.com and was wondering if google will penalize my site or hopefully just the privacy policy page for duplicate content. Because I know I'm not the only person in the world to have that privacy policy but there must be thousands of sites that have used it. So what do you think? Think I am going to take a hit on my site for having a privacy policy that is 99% the same as possibly thousands of others? all the other content on my site is 100% unique and high quality.

Google just produced a web master video about this. You should be fine using the same privacy policy. At the worst, it won't get indexed and since it's a page that is only there to give users information and not as part of a conversion process, its probably fine.

I also initially generated my Privacy Policy from the same site, however, for a while I had modified it a bit to include the terms of service and additional paragraphs until I realized that it was leaving a footprint for a lot of my sites. I searched for some specific sentences in brackets in Google and I could often find a few of my sites in the top results and in some instances, all the results in Google were only from my sites.

So in summary, my advice is to try to make it as blend, common and duplicated as possible to avoid leaving a footprint.

I have a privacy policy for each kind of site. Sites which accept registration, I have one PP. Sites which don't gather any data and are just information sites, use another PP. Sites which publish adsense require a couple of extra paragraphs.

But for the same category of website, I use the same privacy policy, can't see anything wrong with that, as long as they're honest about what you're doing.

Do you see a problem with having a broader version for all your sites?

The way I see it is that it's better to be inclusive than to not have data. And when I created my sites, I might try different monetization methods in the future and I wouldn't want to forget updating the Privacy Policy every time so I prefer to only have one PP but to include everything. Worse case scenario I will have details in my PP about collecting data and/or Adsense even if I don't use it. I'd like to have your opinion.

I guess all sites have the "same" privacy policy, so I think it's not a problem for you.
