There might not be a copyright issue (especially for popular songs), but there will still be issues with Content ID matches, which effectively stops you from monetizing from them.

This doesn't work. Sometime back I tried changing the pitch of a Miley Cyrus song to deep bass (voice like that of a man), and still Content ID recognized the song.

YouTube blocks all your copyrighted materials like Songs. They only was to use is Royalty Free Music.

its really a guess & check kind of thing.....you can assume if the song is on the radio...then it will be matched for 3rd party. But not all songs that are popular...are on the radio. BUT! having popular songs on your channel that you can't monetize is not necessarily a bad thing if its bringing in subscribers every day.
