I can't give away the farm, but I can guarantee the method works just fine when properly adapted. However, all small scale efforts are largely wasted unless you are using some sort of inside strategy. Because of this, and because you most likely have no inside strategy your only chance of making money doing this is with massive scale. If you are not happy with your outcomes on this it's because you tried a few videos, or maybe even a few hundred videos TOTAL. The big players doing this now are uploading several times that many videos per day to the major tube sites, so yeah - your videos are not getting seen at all.
Try to think about it. I'm sure you will come up with some possible solutions. The most obvious solution is that if you can't beat them, you should join them, so if you can't compete with a slightly adapted strategy - you'll need to develop the capacity to upload in massive quantities to really see this pay off. Of course a concerted and smart small scale effort can bring really great returns for the right creative people still.
