Retrospectively tracking backlinks and SERP appearances?

Is there a tool that lets you see in an easy timeline when things like Websites, films, music, podcasts etc started getting traction online?

Ideally on an easily digestible timeline.

I'm trying to track and trace the success or not of some competitors.

I might be wrong, but didn't BuzzSumo do something like this ?? Or maybe MarketMuse ?? I don't remember....
