Hey guys, even tho I am new to this forum I've been lurking around since about summer of 2011. I've learned alot but now I need some help and know for a fact this is the best forum to seek this type of help because of the creativity here.

I am applying to jobs and plan on blasting out my resume to any applicable jobs I can find (I'm an engineering major).

I just want to know what are some ways that I can make my resume REALLY stand out (keywords, font, anything creative)

Thanks

Balabala1221,

Are you planning on just submitting word documents to employers posting jobs? If so, I'm not really sure there is much you can do with keywords.

On the other hand, if you are planning on converting your resume into a website, then you could get that to rank for relevant key terms that employers might be using to find applicants online. You could just make a plain html page with a little styling and then include keywords in the title tag of the site, in the meta description (along with some compelling language to get employers to click through to your resume) and in the copy of the resume. You could make headers in the document and include keywords in there.

Also, you could work on building up your own personal brand online. Make social media accounts around your professional status. Make all the information consistent (in terms of the jobs you are looking for). For instance don't make one social profile about being an avid hiker and another about your engineering stuff. Make them all the same.

You will find that if you can be present in a variety of different places online, you can dominate the first page of results for your name (which employers will certainly search for after they interview you or even before) or for the key term that you think employers are using to look for relevant talent.

Also, make sure key terms that you think employers are using to search for candidates are present in your LinkedIn profile.

Here is a good post on creating a "killer" personal branding campaign,

Here is a good tutorial on turning your resume into a website,

Hope that helps you and good luck!

one trick that is BH is to scrape the internet for hr@mainurl and blast away. You might piss a few people off, but most hr addos are exactly for employment interest. Being an engineering major might not lend to this method well however, as you have a special skill set, but if you just got fired from mickie D's you would have little to lose. ;)

O dont you worry timothy, thanks to this forum I have multiple tricks up my sleeve to blast my resume and i mean blast ;)

just want to know if there are specific things i should put on it since employers literally see dozens a day

Include a photo of a hot girl.

I will give you a different idea

Write down your resume by hand

Yes, don't print shit !

write down your resume in a beautiful font and send them via mail

Lets them know that you put in actual effort :)
