Restore Windows XP? Help

    I have a old XP comp i need to restore.

    How would i go about doing that?

    Any help appreciated

    If it was me ...

    I'd clean it out with with win98se/boot disc

    then upgrade with xp

    restore option must be '' forget '' by all windows users lol ... do a fresh reinstall anyway if the OS was old ... most probably will work better after format/reinstall

    I'd suggest either just burning a copy of an XP CD and booting from that, or as FarmTeam suggested, get Linux. You might like Ubuntu.

    I agree give Linux a try but before installing a new OS i'd wipe disc using Dban
    "Dariks boot and nuke" That way you'll start with a clean disc rather than just
    overwriting the old data. Great program for making data totally unrecoverable
    too.

    if you mean repair then use the XP boot cd and use the repair feature. If any way you don't know how to do it then use ubuntu live cD if you have and copy the necessary files to a flash drive. And use a new install.

    repair option still leaves some old data, but does not format (unless you tell it to)
    if you want a truly clean install, then yes, do as others have advised.

    Ubuntu FTW.

    Clean install of XP would be best. Make sure you at least have the nic and video drivers before you install XP.

    im checking out ubuntu but i guess ill just fresh install xp
