I manage a online community around local restaurants in my country. I want to offer the restaurants advertising but I also want to give something back to the community. My first thought are coupons people can print out. Any other ideas? What kind of coupons work best?

Im in the restaurant business as well... usually taking 10 or 15 % works pretty well.. or buy a meal at full price get the second one half off.. something like that..

Did you try discount coupons? Or buy two and get 3rd for free....

Giving a discount is ok but it must stay interesting for the owner too!

Have you thought of mobile coupons right to phones? What country are you in?

I'd say be a bit wary of just going down the coupon route. I tend to link stuff in with social media and arrange special nights, preview sessions of new menu's etc

If offering coupons it's best to specify time periods when they are valid - determine which are off peak and try to generate some business during these times.

Contests are always a great way to create a bit of a buzz in the local community, links in well with social media also!

Also, bring a friend to activate a discount etc - try to incoorporate stuff that will bring more people in when a discount is on offer so it compensates for lost revenue!

if there is a resort in the area you could give the workers a discount. it will help drive business from the resort to your restaurant from the reccomendations from the workers
