Day #35-36 Update
I have been doing a lot of writing over the weekend. I have also decided to start the process of making the pure silo site. I can't help it- once I get an idea in my head it will drive me bonkers unless I act on it. I know that what I am doing is a 180 from when I started this journey, but oh well. With each step I am learning more. At the end of the day, this is just about me having some fun, and nothing more. So if it's fun, I'm down.
To keep things straight in my head, I'll start talking about Sites 1, 2 and 3.
Site 1 is the original authority site with a forum attached, based on a career niche. I have two writers for it and me. One writer creates 40 1k-2k pages a month. One writer gives me just a few technical writings. I write all of the news and product reviews. The plan is to continue putting out an average of 30-40 pages a week on it.
Site 2 is the site I started a week ago or so. It's in the pet niche. My son does all of the writing for it. We talk about the direction a few times a week, but I am "hands off".
Site 3 is the sports niche site I started yesterday. It is my first attempt at a pure silo structure. My plan is to set up the basics of the site, write the home page myself, write the silo landing pages myself, and then get a writer to help me with all of the articles.
And the update (for me)....
Site 1- The PR is running well. I got almost 400 page views yesterday. I checked the number of sites running the PR on Friday (the day of the release) that were indexed in G and it was over 300. I won't really know the net result until a week or two. It's looking good. I posted a dozen or so (I think?) pages to it this weekend. I am hoping to hear about the fix from Link Push later today. Fingers crossed!
Site 2- My son is writing some really good stuff! He has around 30 pages on it now. They're all very well written and are worthy of reading. I'm proud of him so far. I haven't created any links at all to it, and I really don't want to do anything BL wise until it gets 100+ pages. Then again, knowing my spastic ass, I may blast it with SAPE links next week.
Site 3- I am having so much fun with this one!!! I bought a WP silo plugin and theme from a seller here. It is really cool. It creates a pure silo structure. It took a petty long time to get everything installed because you have to tweak a lot of things and install other plugins. The net result is a site that is way more organized than anything I have ever been involved with. I spent a half a day mapping out the thing before I paid a penny. I came up with a 12 silo/landing page design. Each silo has anywhere from 8 to 20++ articles in it. I cheated by using Amazon and another authority in the niche to figure out what it needs. I went ahead and wrote the home page (2.7k words) today. I have the basics of all the category/landing pages started. It will take me a few days to finish them, as each will be well over 1k words. The plan here is to not have any pages with under 1k words. Unless I add on to my blueprint, I will have around 230 pages on it. This is going to be a piece of art, at least to me.
Have a good week!
