Residential vs datacenter for scraping?

Like with most things, it really depends on a lot of details available to you.

Usually, residential proxies give better access overall with not a lot of friction because they look like real user traffic. Compare that to datacenter proxies which are faster and cheaper, sure, but they get rate-limited and blocked far more aggressively on most protected sites.
Tradefoff's there between high success at a higher cost, or low-cost but have a higher blockrate. Depending on certain specifics, you could be burning through datacenter IPs fast.
If you’re scraping sites with strong anti-bot systems, residential wins. If it’s a light site and you need volume, datacenter will probably be enough.

DC proxies won’t cut it for scraping, maybe only on some random no-name sites. Anything legit has protection and will flag DC traffic instantly as bot/scraper stuff and block it (sometimes the whole subnet). So for real sites like Amazon, eBay, etc., you’re basically not gonna get anywhere with DC.

Both can work. Datacenter is usually faster and cheaper, but easier to block. Residential gives better success rates on stricter sites. In practice many setups start with DC and switch to residential only when blocks become an issue.
