G'day, BHW,

I'm considering offering websites to my clients from ThemeForest, but I guess there would be some legal issues.
Would it be okay, if I would purchase a theme for a client on ThemeForest and customize it, whatever and sell it to him. The next time I would buy the theme again, and again, and again. So I would be paying for every copy I would sell, or do I need to buy the reseller's license?
I also though of forcing the client into buying that ThemeForest template by himself - somehow? - so the normal license would be okay in this case.

Do you have any suggestions how to accomplish this? Or is it okay to buy a regular license for each client alone?

Cheers, Plojhy

There's no problem with what you're planning to do. I know a lot of members who offer sites to offline business owners purchase a single site license and use that for their clients site.

So there wouldn't be a problem ME purchasing the template for the client?
I'm bit worried about the people and potential competition in my country, because they tend to pick shit on you or they would be more than happy to sue me for using not licensed templates. And I'm planning to offer to offline costumers so I will register my company and run a legal business and this could potentially harm me.

It's perfectly legal. I'm not a lawyer, but I happen to know that the individual licenses were made for one client and one site. There's even a "Repurchase" option on themeforest, last I remember.

You're basically charging them for an item you bought and which at the time is your own.
If you buy a car and decide to sell it later, even at a higher price, no one will stop you :)

You're just charging them for the time spent customizing that template for their needs.

I suggest you first get a feeling of what your client wants, design the website with a nulled template, on your own server and once the client is satisfied and pays you, just buy the template and set it up on his server :)

Thanks for the answers, guys.

I cannot afford buying a Reseller's License, because it costs sometimes even $2.5K+ for a template and I want to offer a unique one to every client.

Merry Christmas

It's fine, just but a single licence per client- it's not a problem, you are not really reselling the template, you are just buying it on their behalf, then charging them for your service.

I've previously consulted with legal counsel over this exact issue, it's fine provided you repurchase a license for each new client.

If I'm buying the template on their behalf, should they be aware of that? Because I want to make money on "not-knowing" about themeforest. If I would be obligated to inform my client about buying that template, they would see the actual price of that and they would back off.

you should buy reseller rights, without the reseller right you should not sell anything. if you do it will be illegal.
