i'm thinking of grabbing a hostgator account for some clients, but i want to minimize the support...will hostgator do live chat support for clients who have questions?

also, any advice on hostgator reselling would be appreciated :)

I do have a client-base as well and what I do is I pay for a VPS and charge my clients like $200 a year for web hosting.

All I have to do is setup their domain and have a separate cPanel account for them.

You should always charge your clients for the work you do. As long as you do quality work, people who are serious about their business will understand and will not think twice about paying for your services.

I've got a hostgator Aluminum reseller account ($25 a month) and my experience with live support has been very good. They typically have 75 to 100 support members handling calls during peak hours and the longest wait I can remember was maybe 3 minutes. Most of them are pretty knowledgeable as well. Hope that helps.

i think they will, they never ask for passwords or shit when u join the chat ;)

i develop web sites and im here to tell ya, host gator is the best i have worked with!

(i have a reseller account also)

yeah, i just dont want any complications with hostgator cuz i know they can be asses...i found this in their TOS:

10.) Reseller: Client Responsibility
Resellers are responsible for supporting their clients. HostGator does not provide support to our Reseller's Clients. If a reseller's client contacts us, we reserve the right to place the client account on hold until the reseller can assume their responsibility for their client. All support requests must be made by the reseller on their clients' behalf for security purposes. Resellers are also responsible for all content stored or transmitted under their reseller account and the actions of their clients'. HostGator will hold any reseller responsible for any of their clients actions that violate the law or the terms of service.

so you guys never had any issues with hostgator support when your clients needed help?

I have a reseller account but when I go and ask them questions on their chat tool I only give them my reseller domain half the time. They really don't care. Anyone can ask them questions. I think the type of support they want the reseller to do is password resets and stuff like giving a client more disk space or bandwidth which takes about 1 second in the reseller WHM tool.

Once you get the hang of that WHM tool its a piece of cake to support regular client needs. I'd say chat support would likely handle 90% of your clients questions and you won't have much trouble - ummm - unless your dumb. :)

lol that sounds fair enough, thanks for the input on that

Why not hire 3rd party to help on the live support http://www.supportpassion.com/index.html

how do their rates work?
