Request for Feedback on My WordPress Site (Design, SEO, Improvements)

Hi everyone,

I built my website completely on my own, including the theme, and I’m looking for expert feedback to improve it. This is not a promotion—I simply need guidance from experienced developers, designers, and SEO specialists because my motivation drops when the site receives very little traffic.

there's a small horizontal scroll, which I don't like. I'm not sure that it will impact your rankings directly, but if many people are bothered by this and will leave your site because of this, it will send signals to google that user experience is poor, which could indirectly hurt your rankings...

the site is a bit sluggish, so you might want to...

1... migrate to faster hosting

2... use performance boosting plugins like: caching plugin (Litespeed, WP Total Cache, Wp Rocket, etc), image optimization plugin (Smush.it, EWWW Image Optimizer, etc), Perfmatters (overall performance boosting plugin)

3... fix what GTMetrix recommends

I don't know what content you can have for this niche since it's downloadable stuff, so I don't think you can improve on the content part of your SEO, which means that you'll have to focus on getting traffic and backlinks in order to have chances of ranking.

Also, I noticed that you lack internal links, which is a big deal in SEO nowadays, so add internal links TO, and FROM every single page on your website...

Ok, I see that you are having internal links (in the form of Related Worksheets), but I am talking about in-content internal links, those are the real deal, so insert 1-2 internal links INSIDE OF the walls of text on each page, to other related / relevant pages.

some pages under the Popular Subjects section in your site's footer have no content, I don't think it's a good idea to submit your site to GSC when these pages are empty as this could be seen as thin content, or (maybe??) even 404 pages. Technically, they're not 404, but I don't know, google might interpret them as such.

So, populate all of the empty pages with content before generating the (XML) sitemap and submitting it to GSC. Basically, before you bring the googlebot to your site, it's not necessarily about submitting the sitemap to GSC as it's about letting google find these empty pages.

Something else that I can think of (but which I've not checked) that could hurt your rankings is canonicalization / cannibalization issues. With so many different URLs displaying so much similar content I am pretty sure you will run into canonicalization / content duplication / keyword canibalization issues (either one, or all of them combined) at some point. So, make sure you double check everything and add the correct canonical tags where needed and / or merge extremely similar or identical pages into 1 URL

EDIT: I am NOT an expert in SEO, so don't follow my advice blindly! Wait for better tips if someone else is bothered to reply, otherwise - if you'll not have other course of action - you can implement my tips and see where they lead you
