I am going to start doing reputation management based around 7878 method. The one thing I find somewhat problematic is coming up with a domain that isn't too long and shows that the site is a review or feedback type site. I've also considered something like <city> feedback, but there's lots of suburbs and I'd like to be able to market to the whole region not one small city and would rather not register 15 different domains. My other thought was to create bitly links for each client I'm working with. So for example, if the client was Hooters I'd go on bit.ly and create a link for them bit.ly/chicagohooters or bit.ly/hootersfeedback or whatever it may be. I think I'd have a better chance of making a link that works, and then it can be redirected to whatever domain I have setup for the review site. Anyone else try this? Any issues with using a bit.ly for something like this? Do you think this would be any kind of a turnoff to customers? Just wondering if they would go to the page or if they would be somewhat hesitant because they're unfamiliar with bitly. My thought is that if it's coming from a reputable business they wouldn't think twice but curious to hear other thoughts.

I think you're wasting too much of your time on picking your domain name.

why not you can create a subdomain for each of the suburbs? By the way, bit.ly isn't a good choice.

    Man...Analysis Paralysis much?

Get a domain that relates to your product/service, and create subdomains (you can have up to 250 I think?)...Subdomains are free.

Boom, there you go. Don't make this more difficult, amigo.

Besides, I think you should be more focused on just getting one site up right now and mailing out ASAP.

You're right, I'm probably over analyzing this but I guess my question was not about setting up sub domains or anything like that. My question was more to the point of I was finding it difficult finding a domain that seemed to fit the purpose/idea of a feedback website since the ones I was thinking up were taken. If I had that domain then it would simply be a matter of setting up subdomains. That was all I meant by it. And rather than waste time coming up with the domain name I was wondering if others had tried using a redirecting site like bitly, that way I wouldn't worry about the domain name and could as you said be more focused on getting a site up and the mailings flowing. Thanks for the response, I appreciate your suggestions.

Go for a 'Brand' name domain such as 'TimsRestaurantReview'. Something like 'NationwideReviews' or 'GlobalNetworkReviews' even work...If you want to make it short, that'll always be harder to do.

But then you can always have the option of a shortened URL link as an alternative OR even a QR code.
