Repurpose a GMB to another business, doable ?

Hi,
I have access to a GMB that was used for a restaurant, it has lots of good reviews, and I'd like to use it for another business that has nothing to do with food. I mean I'd like to change the site URL, description, pics, etc, but keep the reviews of course. The goal is to boost another website, it's a lead gen site (same area as the restaurant) so I don't care about getting new reviews or modifying the contact infos on the GMB. Do you think it's something that can help my other site in SERPS?

Reviews are tied to the business identity they were written for, not the listing itself. If you change a restaurant profile into a local directory, Google will likely flag it as inconsistent and either wipe the reviews or suspend the listing. Beyond compliance, even if it slipped through, old reviews about food won’t help build trust for a directory in search. If your goal is boosting SERPs, safer plays are building citations, local backlinks, and fresh reviews tied to the actual brand you’re promoting.

Thanks. Let's say I dont touch anything apart from replacing the url. So I'd use the GMB as a trusted backlink basically. As if the business changed its url in a legit way.
 
From what I’ve seen, reusing an old GMB with reviews in a different niche can give some short-term visibility, but it usually looks suspicious and risks suspension, so it may not be a stable SEO play.

You can change a GMB, but switching niches (restaurant → unrelated business) is risky. Google may suspend it, and old reviews will confuse users. Better to build a fresh GMB for long-term SEO.
 
The restaurant doesnt exist anymore so I guess it's not a big deal if Google suspends its GMB.

I’d test it on a smaller GMB first, just to see if the algorithm reacts negatively.
 
You can flip an old GMB but changing it to a totally different niche almost always risks suspension. Reviews stay tied to the old business identity and don’t carry trust into the new category. If you only swap the URL you might get a short-term backlink benefit, but the profile can get flagged anytime. Safer play for long-term SEO is building a new GMB and using citations or local links instead.
