So I have a question, do any of you report paid links? Does it actually work? I have one competitor who all they do is this, they have deep pockets. I havent done it, feel like a tattle tail but kinda question how they never get penalized for it?

I wouldn't bother wasting your time trying to lower a competitor's rank. Instead, focus on how you can rank better with a natural linking strategy if this is your preferred method.

In time, your competitor's paid linking strategy may devalue his pages. All this without your intervention and feeling of guilt you get from tattling. This could potentially hurt you by your reporting this competitor as it is somewhat unethical, in the business world, to prevent another from operating their business. Trust me, it is not worth the sleepless nights!

I would actually take the time to reach out to your competitor and applaud them for their efforts and their linking strategy. You may be surprised as they may appreciate this and throw you a bone (or even better, a reciprocal link!). It always helps to make friends in this world, not enemies. You never know when you will need a helping hand. :)
 
The owner could be paying his mortgage with the profits from that site!!

Being a snitch is the dirtiest thing u can be in the streets and online.

Concentrate on improving your own rankings and knowledge of SEO.

Maybe this situation your in is your own doing!! If you didnt research your keywords properly and the comp is to tough. Should you destroy other peoples lively hood cause you misread the competition??
 
Everybody is scared they might get reported. This is the real world, you need to be dirty sometimes. Tell me, buying links isn't dirty or being a man? LOL

Karma is a bitch. Think about this before you shit on your competitor. If he has to pay for links to rank, what are you doing? I am sure you are building links also.... If you report him, I hope he does the same to you. Spend your time making your site better and build better, natural links for your site.

I fucking hate sniches. Handle your own problems. Don't drag others down to get ahead or for your benefit. You're pathetic for even thinking such a thing.
 
LOL these are some great answers... I guess I didnt make myself to clear, I have never snitched. I asked if anyone had done it. Said it felt wrong. Never said they outrank me.. Was curious how they get away with it. I could do it if I wanted. I dont, I think 100 for say a link on a blog for a year could be better spent and do it. But thanks for jumping down my throat on it.

Not cool... but black hat is all about personal gain (lol choose wrong word earlier). So do what you think is best.
