I think some may find this interesting but I am reporting on a white hat project I started just over a year ago. Its been on auto pilot except for a few minor updates since the end of 2010.

Platform: Wordpress
Pages: 5
Posts: 15
Comments published: 14
Google Webmaster Tools links: 171 links

I am running a 100% default wordpress install except for some obvious plugins for SEO, analytics and backend functions. The header is custom to match the theme. It was literally a weekend X 2 project. With a full time job my affiliate projects have to get done in my free time.

Linking
I did some white hat forum posts on a very legit brand name website which got duplicated thanks to print pages hah(unintentional blackhat? hah). There are some blog comments on relevant blogs which I did by hand. There is a good amount of natural linking because I tried to pose as a REAL person/blogger and not some spam site. I sounded quite genuine in all my writing and communication.

Content
For my content I centralized all of the relevant tools, resources and helpful stuff into those 5 pages. Some of the blog posts were about Youtube videos (not mine) that were relevant to the subject. Other posts were just updates and current events happening about the subject. Out of 15 total posts the first 13 were published spread out over a 3-4 month period. Then I didnt publish anything for over a year. I recently made 2 updates.

Ranking results
Main keyword: 40,500 searches a month exact match local (U.S)
Rank #5
I rank a lot better(#1-5) for some smaller keywords as well.

November visits: 6,097
November Pageviews: 11,500 page views

Next steps
I want to monetize this website. It was a genuine hobby website at first but I have lost interest in this hobby. It was a trendy topic and it happened to grow quite nicely over the past year. My blog was literally the first one on this topic and that was key. I think I have a pretty good recipe here though if I can monetize this traffic. I just put up 4 cpa email/zib submit banners on each page that are relevant to my audience and I can report the results back here. If this test goes well I can roll this recipe out to 10+ domains and see how it goes.

I would love to hear advice on how to monetize this traffic. I will try to update this thread when I get back from St. Lucia in 2 weeks. Hopefully results will be nice.:)

Alright folks I wanted to report back to you. I put up 3-4 ads per page that were CPA email submits that were highly relevant to the audience. I made a few dollars in 2 months. Google Adsense was making me about 3 dollars a month. I have one page that is perfect for a content locker which is now getting me 30-40 clicks a day! However, no conversions yet. I need to find offers that work well for my audience and possibly a better content locker. I need CLP v2 I think. I have a wide mix of international traffic that needs proper geolocation.

I have also tried to join a gaming specific ad network which has some interesting offers including pop ups or something $3 CPM. I will follow up later on.
