Hi all,

A friend of mine asked me to lend a hand with some Rep management stuff. Basically someone (I am thinking ex-employer) is going around creating accounts and posting the same 4 lines, with the guys name on it. He's creating accounts at sites like deviantart, blogspot, linkedIn and various other sites (I have a list).

My question is, how doable is it to find out who is doing this? And what is the best way in your opinion to getting the profiles removed?

I'm confused. Are you handling the reputation management process, or are you looking for a reputation manager?
 
You won't be able to get all of the profiles removed unless the content fits a very specific criteria. You'll have to suppress all of them. And if the guy is active, it will be very difficult.

You are going to have one hell of a tough time fighting against a guy who wants to hurt you... I'd get your friend to sue him & use that court order to make platforms take down the material via C&D.

Yeah, I agree it is going to be a uphill battle. Legal is an option but last resort.

Legal should be the first resort. Everything else would cost a ton of cash/hours and isn't worth it for a friendly help.

curious, if someone is stealing/scraping content and reusing it and trying to take credit as original work, can that hurt reputation?

Depends on the intention. If they're publishing through email to a mailing list, probably not. If they're scraping ROR or negative yelp reviews and posting those online that could hurt.

If they're stealing your content just to have it on their site, I can't see a way that would hurt your reputation. Definitely has the potential to hurt your rankings.

That is actually the best thing that could possibly happen to you as a content creator! All you need to do is make it public by suing them & then posting it around the social media world to make it public & go viral. Just check out what kind of wave photographers stealing photos unleash.
 
I am unable to understand your question, do you want to active like an authority? Otherwise I will advice that you should rewrite this stuff to get better OR.
