Hi all,

So I remember a while back when I joined BHW, I noticed a member's avatar that said something to the effect of "good luck, I'm behind 7 proxies!" with the traditional 50s cartoon of a man giving you the bird.

My question is, how would you hide behind 7 proxies? How many proxies do you guys hide behind?

P.S. I think its overkill to use so many unless you're a total shade ball (in which case you don't deserve to be here), but I'm curious how it could even be accomplished. I blow at technical stuff if you couldn't already tell.

I don't know about 7 (it most likely was a joke, since it was a 50's cartoon), but in order to hide behind two. You set up your normal proxy, then use a site like proxify.com This is how you hide behind 2. I don't think it's possible for more than 2 unless you have a computer that switches every minute or so, etc.
 
Well, i cannot give you clear directions because im unsure on the 7 proxies. but as for 3 , basically, you would sign into a botnet, surf from that, use a browser proxies (number 2) and in that browser have an addon such as one for firefox that will give you a proxie, so techinically you will be hiding behind a few proxies then, as for 7 i have no clue.
you can use a dial up (1) then add the proxie to your browser(2) add another proxie to your addon(3) the surf from a site such as hidemyass or something (4), or what you could do is connect to botnets, a few different ones. lets say you connect to a botnet in the USA, then from that one you connect to one in the Uk, and from that, you connect to canada, and so on. as close as i can get for you ,.
 
There are different ways to hide though "multiple" proxies.

For example, one the the easiest, the TOR network:

It is a freely-run network of computers that randomly routes your encrypted traffic through a large number of intermediates, thereby hiding your location through multiple proxies.

This program also makes use of the tor network and is more thorough hiding your tracks:

thats easy :P buy yourself 7 Botnets.

log into bot1, set bot1 to use bot2 as its proxy. ( bot1 is hiding behind bot2)
set bot2 to use bot3, bot3 to use bot4....... and so on..

this is where things get hard+tricky for you.

you run the risk of it been.. very very slow and it being down as theres bots are on normal user comps and not 24/7 servers.
 
7 proxies I think is a little too excessive.
This approach: LOCAL IP > VPN or TOR > SOCKS is more than enough.

But make sure you're your VPN or SOCKS/PROXIES doesn't connect to GOV node point. It's best to connect to offshore hosts.

B1g br0thuh follows your money trail, not your ip in most cases.

The method that you are specifically requesting is called, 'proxy chaining.' It can be accomplished with a software program called proxyswitcher among several others. Google, "proxy chaining how to" and go to the second page. Or.. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&client=safari&rls=en-us&q=proxy+chaining+how+to&start=10&sa=N click that for a wider selection to suite your needs :-)

There's the answer to your method. I'd definitely buy exclusive private proxies from overseas if I were you if you want to remain TRULY anonymous. Using an SSL VPN, you've got an encrypted connection to the "router" (vpn) overseas which then bounces through another proxy to get to your final destination. This is more effective since overseas companies won't usually turn you in. The latter method is also much more efficient because you're not bouncing around so much. Hope this helps. Take care

Yes, you can hide behind 7 (or more) proxies of your choosing (you don't need that many though and it will be PAINFULLY slow). This is how I do it:

First you need to be running linux (I don't know about doing this with Windhoes). I recommend ubuntu, but have done it with fedora also.

Then you need to install proxychains (ubuntu):

sudo apt-get install proxychains
After proxychains is installed, edit the file:

/etc/proxychains.conf
Scroll down to where it says: "[ProxyList]" and beneath that, simply enter your proxies one line at a time:

socks4 69.69.69.69 1081
socks5 173.172.172.170 9090
ect..
ect..

After you build your list of proxies to use, you call proxychains from the command line along with the application you wish to use, for example:

proxychains /usr/bin/firefox

Proxychains is a godly tool. You can do tons of blackhat stuff with this. You can install tor and privoxy and use it with proxychains. I usually proxychain tor and then go through another proxy via the application or script I am running. You can also play with the different options in the proxychains.conf file (dynamic_chain, strict_chain, DNS, chain length, etc..)

Word of advice. Tor is slow as hell, but it can be VERY anonymous. If you go through Tor first, even one proxy after that will be enough. The only reason to use the another proxy after tor is that many tor exit nodes are blocked by websites.

Also, watch for DNS leaks, JS, Flash and other dynamic content...

wtf are you doing that is so ridiculously shady that you need 7 layers of anonymity? The last time I used 7 proxies I was looking at porn of underage sheep raping chickens and then snuffing them out at the end. That's hardcore stuff. You never see the world the same once you watch sheep-chicken-snuff porn.
 
The origins of that "7 proxies" thing is when someone hacked someone's myspace, who was allegedly behind "7 proxies". The hackers posted a little thing saying:

WE GOT THROUGH 7 PROXIES!

And thus the meme was born.

In real life, 7 proxies are overkill, because a REAL hacker can get your shit within minutes, regardless of how many proxies you have.

Try the TOR network instead.
 
It is a complete waste of time to hide behind more than a few proxies if they are not of special quality. You'll experience heavy bandwidth loss and it's a pain in the ass to keep alive if the proxies are not of top quality.


But to answer your question:
For windows there is a tool called "freecap" (http://www.cloakfish.com/tools/freecap_setup_eng.exe)
Go into freecap settings, setup a proxy chain and there you can link your proxies together.

Nothing. I was just curious how it was even possible. I've just never heard of someone being that drastic and was wondering how anyone could even accomplish such a feat.

1. How do you put another proxy after Tor?

2. What is a DNS leak/JS/Flash/other dynamic content? And how do I watch for "leaks"

3. What do you consider "stupid"? BTW if you're referring to taxes or something of that nature, I pay them. I don't know who would be stupid enough to think they could get away with not paying them.

^^^This is the right answer.^^^

Proxy chaining is really only necessary when you're doing something truly horrible. You'd want to set up the individual proxies in such a manner that you can't be personally connected to them in any way, then chain them together so that your "home" connection can't ever be linked to the shenanigans you're pulling on the other end.

It's like playing the Kevin Bacon game with proxies.

Yeah good point, it'd be total overkill...

I was just wondering what you guys are doing to stay anonymous. Like I said, I'm not the technical go-to guy if you will, so I'm clueless on what is necessary to stay anonymous. I just figured I'd see if anyone was being that extravagant.
