Renew or not?

One of my domain names is expiring on Monday and I'm not sure whether to bother renewing it.

It's an EMD micro niche site I purchased through a seller on here purely so I could have a bash at ranking it. The main keyword (domain name) has over 3k searches and a cpc of $8 according to semrush but the advertiser competition is virtually non existent (no idea why the cpc so high!)

I only recently discovered what I had been doing wrong with my link building and when I changed strategy my site went from 90+ to 19-22 in Google. I still have no idea if this will even make any cash if it gets to number 1, it seems to be stuck at page 2-3.

Should I renew it and keep pushing or ditch it and start again on something else?

I would start something else personally or maybe buy some PBN posts or Editorial links to push it up?

Would spending $10-15 renewal fee make you miserable? Since the site is already on page 2-3, why not let it age there while you work on your other projects? You might want to get back to it sometime later after you learn more about ranking sites

No, the renewal fee won't hurt, I just don't know if it's worth while. I'm leaning more towards renewing it because at least I managed to get somewhere with this one. Another 12 months won't kill me for the sake of £10.

You could just keep it and then set it up as a pbn property ? Maybe start another moneysite and push a link from it to your new site.

That's what I'm thinking. Even if it doesn't make much on adsense I may be able to monetize with something else so possibly worthwhile keeping it.

Renew it since you're making progress on rankings. Make more links, add more content

Target other related keywords perhaps?

If it's a buying kw or there is a chance to monetise the traffic in any way then renew it because it sounds like you are half way there with it.

Since you have already added a site and have some domain metrics on that domain, i would suggest keeping it. 3000 search per month on that EMD is still good in terms of Domain investment. You could also sell it on Flippa for something?

Thanks for the advice guys. Decided to go ahead and renew it.

Even if it doesn't make much on adsense if it gets to number 1 it's still a learning experience for me.

It's just an emd for the main long tail keyword, not really useful for much else other than a micro niche site but I may be able to earn something from it.

How long have you been doing SEO for your site? If it's less than 3 months, then I think you should renew it and continue with your SEO strategies and try to work more harder. However if you did your SEO over 6-8months then I think you should stop and find another things to do.
