I have a domain that is expiring in 4 days. It will be $35 to renew it or I can register a new one for cheap. I have not done much marketing on the old one. I like it but it's a .tv not exactly prime real estate. Is there a benefit of an older domain that would offset the higher price of renewing it? I am a webdesigner so the site rewrite is free.
hawkster I paid 2.99 usd for it on special. (just looked it up) but the renewal is $35
neweaver I never tried to monetize it. Never put analytics on the site. It was a school project for a webdesign class.
but something has come up and it would be a perfect domain for an ecommerce site in a niche that I am interested in. I never put analytics on it because I was just doing it because it was cheap and it was for a school project. I am just wondering if an aged domain even if it has had very light traffic would be easier to rank than a new one. My thought is I could pay the $35 now and renew it. Or I can pay $2 for a new one (at godaddy with coupon dcus149r) and use the extra money for traffic. I see in the Marketplace that there are packages for seo for $25. Or I can get some links for cheap and still be out the same amount of money...So would it be worth it to renew or just dump and register a new one.
