Hey.

So my blogger gets deleted, I move all my articles on self-hosted wordpress.

But I have a fan page on facebook that's named after the deleted blogger. Now I'd like to change that page's name to my proper .com website and use that as my official site's FB fan page. I have almost 2.000 likes on the page... yes, addmefast, and stuff, mostly...

So I found a few ways of merging/renaming facebook pages online. Nobody seems to know for sure, but the impression I got is that the "merging" has been patched, but there are still ways to rename a fan page that has over 200 likes.

Can anybody tell me here or PM me how to do it? Or at least point me in the right direction? I would attempt the methods I found online but I'm worried not to mess something up and end up with a page named in Chinese or whatever :p

Thanks everyone.

I dont think any Page name change trick is working these days, even that Korean trick was also fixed i guess. Wait for a while in a month or two, there are always new tricks for name change lol :P

I know method to change the name of fan page but first u need to activate in ads facebook the option mail support, and after I have method via documents to change the name for more details PM or in skype :)

I'm not sure any methods actually work nowadays, but you could possibly try contacting Facebook asking to change it.

if this doesn't work, you may try to create a new page and merge the old one with it. Try to search Google for "I have two Facebook Pages for the same thing. Can I merge them?".

pay attention you wouldn't be able to keep the posts from the old page, only its members.

Alright, I changed it :)

I was messing around with facebook and entered the edit page section fan page.

Apparently you can change your page's URL once after you initially set it. And since I never changed it before, I was able to change it. Awesome.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Actually I was thinking of either contacting facebook about this, because I am having a legit white hat website, nothing blackhat going on here, not yet anyway ;)

And then if that didn't work I was going to keep the page I have now, but also create a new page for my website...

These were my plans, but it's all good now, I changed the url :)

Ugh, I was wrong.

I changed the URL, but the Name of the page I cannot change, I didn't even think about the URL when I wrote the original post.

So I guess I'm back to contacting facebook or creating a brand new page.

It's worth contacting them as you never know. If they decide not to help you, then you'll have to create a new page, but if they do, you can keep your current.

I already created a new page after seeing that facebook has an option to merge pages you admin and if they are similar.

So I created my new page and I'm hoping to get that merge option enabled in a few days, I'll give it a few days.. If I don't get the option, I'll delete the old page and just continue with the new page.

However, I won't lose anything to contact facebook, but how to contact them? I found a url which was like a form for requesting to merge facebook pages, but that link is dead and I can't find a way to contact facebook. Can anyone tell me how? An Email or something?

Oh Goddamnit...

I have no patience, so I decided to delete the older page (2000 likes) and just start fresh with a new page.

And now I can't get the URL for the new page as I want it because I already gave that URL to the older page... FUCK!

So anyway, I tried deleting the older page, but it takes 14 days for it to happen. So I've clicked to delete it and now I gotta wait 14 days for the old page to get deleted, then the URL that I want will become available and then I will apply it to my new page.

HOWEVER, I read somewhere that supposedly facebook doesn't release old URL's that have already been used. That would be stupid, but you never know, so in 14 days when the old page gets deleted I'll try to give the URL i want to the new page. If I'm unable to do so, that means my URL is "trapped" there for god knows how long, so I'll just add a ".com" to my page's ending and call it a day.

This could all so easily be resolved with a simple email or a conversation with facebook, but I can't be bothered to email them and wait, and that's because I may be waiting in vain. If I knew I can email or call facebook and eventually get a response, I'd do that, but I can't even find a way to contact them.

p.s If Facebook reads this, you guys suck. Why limit me in the control I have for my pages? And I could understand limiting the URL to just one change, but the name of the page, why? Anyway, you suck facebook... :)
