Renaming channel - will this kill my current rankings?

Hi, I have few running videos that are ranking quite good on keywords. But I'm wondering about renaming my channel. Can this eventually kill my current rankings? There is currently one keyword, which is my niche, and the keyword will stay, but I want to change other words, that are IMO not that important.

And - can this help to rank better?

I have 4 words in my channel name and I think it's too much.

As far as I know, changing channel name won't have any affects whatsoever. If you were to change video Title, description, etc., then that's a different story.

But it can maybe affect CTR. While clicking on a video, people may check the name and decide if it's an authority (not sure how much importance they give to this)

Since you are going to keep the primary keyword in channel name, overall CTR should also not be affected.

Haven't noticed anything as such. It has nothing to do with your channel's reach.

I've seen it affect some people but then again it could've been other things...

You can only change your channel name 3 times every 90 days. If you change the name on your Google Account, it will change across all Google services, like Gmail. After changing your name, it may take a few days for the new name to update and display across YouTube
