I just made the following changes for my site during previous google algorithm update and it seems there was not much of trouble with the new updates.

These were the changes -

  • No google analytics (used piwik and openwebanalytics)
  • No google webmaster
  • No adsense (instead other ad placements were used)
  • Amazon links cloaked with simplyURL
  • any other affiliate link cloaked
  • No quantserve or third party widget that shares or fetches my traffic details (this includes wordpress stats in jetpack)
  • No link automation stuff
  • Guest posting once or twice a month

I focussed on not giving my traffic stats to other companies which offer something for free and fetch a lot of traffic data in return. Instead used available wordpress plugins and stuff which was free without any catch. For my this only site it worked. I can't say it will work with all of the other niche site. In any case, you have to experiment. Avoid associating yourself with google services if you don't want them to penalyze you based on new algorithm. Less data you give to them for judging, harder it will be for them to break you.

Just my 2 cents.
