Just wondering if anyone knows whether a negative review can be removed if it’s posted by someone who is not a customer? For example - in my case someone has asked for a quote, and then left a negative review based on the quote.

You can try to report the post, but it could take time and/or not be deleted at all.

I don't think you can delete negative reviews. However you can disable the entire review section if you want.

There are numerous things you can do.

Firstly - never, ever panic.

1) Ask

Ask nicely to remove the fake review through e-mail or whatever means possible.

2) Social Pressure

If not deleted, reply to the fake review with all proof that you have. Chances are, the reviewer will delete it because he/she is made a fool of by spreading the truth. His/her family members, or Facebook friends will see that she's putting a business in the ground by lying.

3) Overloading

If still not deleted, overload the negative one with (bought, or real) positive reviews. Getting real reviews is simple, set up an e-mail in which you kindly ask your current clients to leave a review.

4) Disabling reviews

If all else fails, you could choose to disable reviews completely. By disabling them, the reviews are hidden.

To screw around with negative/fake reviewers, you can screw back with buying massive amount of likes on their profile pic and so on. Chances are they delete their entire Facebook account and thus the review goes away as well.

Good luck!

I have contacted the FB support about this and they said it's not possible. I don't agree with this, but it's impossible to discuss with them.

There is what they said:

If a Page Admin could edit the Rating/Review information, it is likely that would only keep the better ones, and then the tool would lose its purpose. If a Page/Business is faced by a person with a bad Review/Rating, we recommend that the Page addresses the person showing willingness to improve. If the person doesn´t reply back or doesn't justify the reason for the Rating, the other Fans/Clients will understand that the Page reached out and wanted to help, but the person just wasn´t willing to.

Bear in mind that you can also block the whole review feature, if you want. But of you reply to the Rating showing your concern an will to provide a better service, that will show a good image to your Fans/Clients!

A positive approach.
Send a private message to the person who posted negative review and ask them to remove it because the review doesn't make sense. If they still refuse to remove the review, move to the next step.

Going the legal way.
First, reply to the review about how fraud the review is, post screenshot of email conversation.

Then, block the user. (With your personal account)

Now, report the negative rating to Facebook as a "harassment / personal attack / spam"

Wait for Facebook to do their job. They will review your post and will remove the rating.

Does removing the address/location on a page still work to get rid of reviews altogether?

Unfortunately Facebook has not yet implemented the option that the administrator can remove the comment, Instagram is already a step ahead on that subject.

Anyway.. i suggest the same, report the comment and explain the reason. And wait for a response from Facebook.

Quit dreaming, they won't.

Unfortunately, I had to deql with this too in the past. A company I have worked for, received a negative Facebook review spam with 35 1 star ratings. We had to close the review section, but this is not good for ORM. It sucks.

Thanks for all the answers guys :-) At least I know the answer.

you quoted too high

Yup, thats basically what happened; I guess its something to learn from: I gave a broad quote to this person because they were in a rush; and I told them that I couldn't really help them anyway because I couldnt get the job done anywhere near as quickly as they needed - so I wasn't even accepting the job. That's the annoying thing, I was trying to give them as much info as possible.

Anyway, negative reviews = part of business I suppose.

This does not work. I have seen this happen several hundred times. Rarely, RARELY, does the reviewer actually delete the offending review. Instead, responding to the review adds fuel to the fire. I would highly suggest against this if your only goal is to get the review removed.

This also does not work. This isn't even a thing. This is the kind of misinformation that gets people's business pages put under scrutiny.

Easiest solution but slightly grey area: kidnap his mother and ask for ransom...

Does reporting the review from multiple accounts not work? I've read this is how to do it but I never actually tried this

I have removed negatives for our Animation Company with the exact same method. How can this be a misinformation when we are doing what Facebook has gave us an option for.

In the end I decided just to make a reply to the review - I just gave my explanation without being argumentative.

I think it’s the best I can do. I must admit it’s really pissed me off; first and only negative review I’ve had across Facebook, google and email reviews. BUT, it’s part of business.

I just have to forget about it and hopefully it will get buried soon enough.

Negative reviews are acceptable when there was an issue from your end. Someone simply rating you zero for not liking what you are offering is very bad from a business point of perspective. That's the exact reason, you need to be a verified purchase token to write and rate a seller just to prevent negative spam or positive spam.

Now I highly suggest you to report the review to Facebook, if you are not doing any fishy business. Why I'm pressing down on that report option? Because, if the person sees that Facebook can't do jackshit about fake reviews, then what's stopping them from creating multiple acc or asking their friends to mess up your ratings? There should be a fear of authority else a business will never survive.

Thanks

I also want to add a few words
1. Report his FB account from 100 accounts in 2-3 days
2. Report FB review same as 1 paragraph
3. If you don't want to make 1 and 2 just talk with him under review

Good luck
