Removing a 301 Redirect

Anyone have any experiences with this scenario?

There are 2 sites (Site A, Site B) in the same niche.
I 301 redirect Site B to Site A to pass on the link juice.
I remove the 301 redirect from Site B to Site A and now want to try building up Site B as a new site, in the same niche (acting as a competitor).

Will Site B be penalized because Google knows that it was once redirecting to Site A?

No it wont be an issue. Just wait for few weeks for 301 redirect to drop. You can check it in your GWT.

That is not a problem. You can build site B google won't penalize you for that.

Nope, there won't be any problem. Google treats both domains as different unless they are linked to each other with contextual link.

That is not an issue for your site B..you start your promotion..
