I love screpebox just as much on everyone else on here. but I have a site that I want to remove the footprint so scrapebox doesnt find it.

Anyone know where that would be or what scrapebox looks for to know that it is a wordpress blog?

there are hundreds footprints you can use to find wordpress , but first and very simple solution is remove "Powered by Wordpress" , most of people is using this footprint , so you can maybe avoid some of spammers , but wordpress and any other platform has many other options (specific keywords in their URLs , folders , which you can use to find them so, if somebody will want to find you , they will find you anyway.

perhaps better to tweak the wordpress so SB don't know how to post comments etc.
    should be easy.

What chris456 said is correct. Its really not possible hide your wordpress blog from SB harvester. If your main concern is to avoid SB blast hitting your blog, just install akismet and you can forget about spam problems.

Well you could try submitting your site to the SB cloud blacklist.

All above replies are good suggestions.

Ensure you are using captcha. This will lower the spam (as most ppl probably don't use the autocaptcha, or it fails.). Try using a "different" captcha service. Also there is probably a plugin where you can enter a custom question like "is fire hot or cold".

Also, you could rename the textfields for name, email, ect. Don't do this unless you have some programming/html experience. Outsource it. If SB can't figure out wtf the comment boxes are, it can't post. I suppose one could "teach it", but not if you do it yourself and your site is the only one like it. Also use Akismet.

You could use javascript or AJAX and have the visitors click a link, then have it "unhide" the comment section. Ensure it isn't hard coded and viewable in the source code.

Also, remove all footprints. Especially the "powered by" in the footer. Look at scrapeboxes built in footprints, as well as search for other people sharing footprints to find wordpress blogs. Those are how they are finding sites, so ensure those footprints aren't on your site.

By then, you should be spam free.
