Remove old pbn links or leave them be?

I have a quite complex pbn network over 40 domains, pointing to one of my ecommerce site. There are some links to product categories and products, them are outdated, or simply just old.
I want to use the pbns for the same ecommerce site, just for some new products or content. Should I (1) remove the old links, or (2) remove the old articles, or (3) leave everything as it is and just add more links with new content? Whats your experience in this case?

Are the links your pbn is pointing to still live or are they 404 now?
If latter is the case, removing them might be better.
How many links are there to your main site per Pbn site?

- They are alive at the moment, but think of an example like "iphone 7 cases" etc. They are old, and not generating any revenue.
I dont mind them "not being boosted" anymore. But I am curious if google sees link removals as signs for pbn, because in the real world they dont get removed over time.

- Currently 2-3 links per pbn site with various anchors, to my money site. Overall 15-20 articles with niche related posts on the individual sites, so i think they are "well hidden".

From a logical pov Google does see it like that. Why would a site remove or replace live links to another site from an age old post without any reason?

Only niche edit link farms and careless PBN networks do that.

I'm no expert in PBNs but pretty sure what you're doing is batshit dangerous.

Posting 2-3 links to your single money site per PBN site is like leaving obvious clues to Google about your PBN.

The outbound link ratio of per pbn site to your money site should be strictly 1 and very rarely 2. Not consistently 2-3 links per site.

How old is your site? And when did the PBNs start pointing to your money site?

I'm honestly surprised that Google didn't discover your entire network and nuke it once and for all.
 
You can start by removing the outdated links and keeping the new ones. Then you can write a new content for the new products to point them.
 
Obtaining links from the same network to the same website again and again doesn't have much impact, and it's considered a bad strategy in the eyes of Google. Rather than focusing on building links from the same network, diversify your link profile to various sources, which is beneficial and good for your website.

Just leave them as it is and build links for new pages with current trending content.

Later, slowly can remove the old useless links, not in immediately in bulk.
 
Intentionally removing the working links can be a red flag, so you keep on building the content and links on the live products and keep the old links as it is.
Also reduce the OBL from your PBN sites to your money site.
 
You can remove the Outdated One and Build a New Links
 
My take is to leave the existing links, build new content and new links. However if this takes you over your already 2-3 links per website then watch out. Not sure what to do in that case. I'd probably then delete the links and put up fresh links and content, but don't do it all at once. Sorry if this doesn't help much I imagine this sounds pretty ambivalent.
 
Check which is not getting indexed, those links you can remove and add it for another new product. indexed backlinks, if you want to try to link for the same website with a different product, doesn't make much impact
 
Disavow the broken links and update your niche related new traffic backlinks
 
You can remove the outdated articles and go with new one. Also, don't add too many links from your same network. It's a huge footprint and if google finds anything suspicious then it will be risk.
 
If your website still has live pages where you have pointed your PBN links, then leave them alone.

If the pages where you pointed the links do not exist anymore, then edit the links and point them to another page.
