Release content all at once or post a new article once a week?

I have a new website set up, and I already have 12-15 articles loaded up and ready to go, with more possibly coming.

I have a script that I can use to post one of these articles once every 5-7 days, or alternatively I can just post all of them now.

Which is better?

I would post 2-3 a week continuously, you will look better in the eyes of Google, and will be easier for you to manage a link system that looks natural. This way you will get bots coming back to your site, seeing fresh (original?) content and hopefully giving you a pat on the back with traffic. Just make sure you have a good ping-list set up before you set the script loose. Is this a WP site? with WP you can nicely plan to publish throughout the week.
 
If you have enough content, daily would be ideal. Even twice daily as long as it's consistent.
 
Thanks for the responses. I don't plan on having more than 20 articles for now (as these are high-quality articles on health topics that I hired a doctor to write so are fairly expensive). So if I publish every day, I will run out of articles in 3 weeks. What's the best publishing plan?

I didn't use WP, I usually just hand-code my sites with PHP. (I'm fairly comfortable coding and I like having 100% control, also my code is lightweight so it loads much faster than WP.) Basically, for this site I set up a system where I configure a list of articles, each article has a permanent URL and a release date. On the release date, the article shows up in the main index, and also shows up in the "related" section of previously published articles which are related.

So it's all set up and ready to go, I'm just a bit of a newbie in SEO so I'm trying to figure out what to specify as the release dates.

Edit- Just read your update. If you can't update every day, go for once every three days.

Here's a way to maximize the value of your expensive content...

I would still go with consistent posts weekly, you will run out of content in three weeks, but Google will see your site as more of a natural one, as well you can develop links during that week for the posts, this would be best if you had several other blogs with unique content on (you can use Iwriter & friends for this so its cheap) linking to your post. Then basically any links for the 'lesser blogs' to get them indexed, Google will quickly see this and it is easy to target keywords.

i think its quite obvious that you should post content on regular basis. Google crawler would love to see the new content on its every visits and they will crawl you more often and you should see the positive aspect of it.
 
From what you wrote, your content is very limited. That is why I wouldn't post more than one article a week, especially because you already have 15 articles published. This way, Google will see a new article every now and then, instead of a lot of new articles in 3 weeks, and then nothing for 6 months.
 
Post an article every 3 or 4 weeks. It's sufficient unless you claim it to be a diary.
 
As long as it's a regular publishing pattern, it doesn't have to be very frequent.
 
1-2 posts per week randomly would be best. Keeps the bots coming back and google thinking its natural
 
It will make no difference at all, neither in long term, nor in short one. I would publish all the articles straight away at your place, if their original and good quality what seems it is...


They won't indexed at the same time, some will index sooner, some later... just publish it all and start with a good backlinking strategy.

It really depends on the type of site. If you're doing a tech blog, then post it with regular updates; this way visitors and spiders will see you have regular new content and will re-visit your site more frequently. If you're building an authority site, then post it all at once.

I mostly build authority sites and what I do is I buy my domain and then build my entire site offline (including all the content). Then when I complete the site I move the parked domain to my server, upload all the content, add the site to Google webmaster tools within a 12 hour period.

The reason I do it this way for authority sites is because I build links naturally...and no one's going to give you a link or a social share when your authority site doesn't have a lot of content.
 
For authority sites - post it all at once... the daily versus drip fed relates more to if your site is considered a blog with frequent updates or not.. you can always tell Google how often content is updated... if you tell them each day - the google bot will come alooking each day and find not much more...

I have seen plenty sites established (and 20 articles is not really much) that are consistently ranking when first setup - and after 2 years later.. All with a shotgun approach to posting of the articles.
 
It sounds like you want an authority type site so I would post all the content at once, make sure that proper on-page SEO is in place, and spend your time on off-page SEO. You can allow comments to generate additional content and social buzz (although moderating the comments can be time consuming). Use the money you earn from the site and reinvest it to have more articles written targeting additional KWs etc.
 
Thanks for the responses guys, yeah it's more of an authority site with reference information than a daily blog.
