Relative N00b Seeking Blogger Advice

Hey all! I'm new here and have recently become verrrry intrigued by your wealth of knowledge and money talk. lol Anyhoo...

I recently started a blogger blog and am looking for tips to help monetize it without spending anything (yet). Here's what I've done so far:

*Subscribed to feeds in order to autoblog (though I edit all posts beforehand).
*Joined Adsense and Amazon.
*Opened Twitter account/added friends via Twiends


Ideally, I'd like my blog to be a combination of black hat and white hat SEO, with some original posts and some not-so-original (but reworded) posts. I've worked for eHow and Livestrong for 2 years now so I know a fair amount about keywords and such. I guess I'm just looking for ways to automate as much of the promotion process as possible (Twitter, Digg, Facebook, etc.) Despite getting first/second-page G hits, my other blog has only made $25 since March. Thought I'd start fresh with a new topic. (Can't post link to it yet, dammit! In due time).

Since I'm new and still trying to prove my worth, I'd be willing to answer any questions you guys have about eHow/DMS SEO tactics. THANKS!

But I have a question, How does Ehow work, I mean Do they pay? and how?

Can you make a Ehow post on how to make money on ehow?

Wow, awesome! Just learning about backlinks and such. I do try to put links to reputable sites in my articles, but I take it backlinks are something different?

eHow is owned by Demand Media, who also owns several other well-known websites. I make $15 per article and get paid twice a week via PayPal. Anyone used to be able to write eHow articles and earn revenue share, but Demand took away that right a few months ago. So you now have to be approved by Demand Media in order to do eHow articles. Lame :\
