Relation between Adwords and organic postions.

For a special keyword i found it hard to rank organic. Couldn't get past 6/7 position. Hardly any traffic. I decided to use Adwords and fortunately this works pretty well. Low cost/click and good conversion rate.
No i see thay my organic ranking for this keyword dropped far away from fist page. I know there could be lots of reasons for this, but i also can imagine that Google doesnt give my a high organic postion for this keyword as i showed im willing to pay for it.
Any experience out there on this subject?

There's no relation between Google Ads to your organic positions.
Google had 2 big updates during December, so I think it's most likely that.

I know about the updates (new here, but not in SEO). I was not affected by them. The drop in postion was also way before december and right after i joined Adwords.
So you dont have this experience? Thx for the information.
But more interested in people who do.
