Let's say the home page has about 1,000 words and I replace a chunk of 300 words at every 7-10 days. And the keywords density remains the same. Is G "confused" if I change the home page too often? Will that affect the SERPs in a bad way?

Yes, but I experience changes in SERPs whenever I replace 30% of the homepage. I started about 2 months ago and the site drops from ~ # 40 to # 70 in the next 1-2 days after the change. After about 7 days the site recovers the lost positions and then drops again when I change 30% of the homepage. And so on ...

The freshness of your site only applies to search queries that require up to date information. If you have a movie review website, freshness is vital, if your site has how to install the suicide clutch on a Indian scout freshness is irrelevant.

If your niche does not require freshness, constantly changing the site will constantly hold down your rankings.

Imagine you are a search engine, and you look at a site that targets queries that do not rely on current information. You grade the site based on all factors, assign a ranking, and place it in the cache. The next time you come to the site, the information has changed, so you have to re figure out everything and cache it again.

If each time you go to the home page it has changed, the SE will never figure out what the page is about.

Typically a site will debut at rank XX, then rise. You are not giving the site a chance to rise in the rankings.

It may rank in spot one, but if it comes in at spot 5, it will fall out when you change it, because it is not the same page that ranked in spot 5.

Use your head, if your niche requires current information, freshness is vital, if not, it is detrimental.

Do not confuse changing the content of a web page with keeping your site updated.

    Thanks, Techxan!

Yes, that's what I've been thinking too and I wanted a confirmation. If the website isn't "news" related, the regular changes are detrimental.

I initially thought a 30% change isn't too much, but it seems it is.

Don't think of only news, books and movies though, if you have a site about consumer products you need to keep up to date on those products. If you have a camera or vacuum cleaner review site, you want newer products to show up there regularly. No one cares what the best camera was three years ago.

You need to finish home page content in once time & if you have any online or twisted site then create a tab at home where you can add new content on daily, also there is not issue by search engines, its your lost, you can't maintain ranking properly & also can't see webmaster queries results, that's why you have need to fix your content once time in at least 6 month.
Once you fix content of home page then must ping all search engines & if you change any landing page content then fetch that by webmaster for crawling.
