Registering competitor's domain but with .net

I am launching a new product with one main competitor that has registered the .com of the main 3 word keyword. The .net is available, but a shorter, 2 word, .com with a dash is available. I don't want there to be confusion on customers' part as the products and companies are different (legit company). So, would you register the same domain but .net or go for the 2 word domain with a dash?

Register both because if you leave one open & launch your product your competitor might register what's available.
