So I'm about to register a domain name for a micro-niche site and I noticed the .org is available. I have never used a .org before and to my understanding it is only for non-profits...

So my question is, should I register it and does it give me an advantage as far as SEO?

I use .org's and have also found them to rank at least as well as .net and .com. Shouldn't have a problem at all... as long as it doesn't look too odd for your niche.

Well it's going to be a site about foreclosed homes in a certain state. I guess it could work as a O-R-G so it looks more 'helpful'. But for sure having the O-R-G isn't given an advantage over a C-O-M by Google?

stupid auto moderation... attempt #3

its in the top 3... though i usually go for the .com with another word (deeper keyword, usually)

.ORG is fine and rank as well as .com/.net -- I, personally, love .orgs for the simple fact a lot of people give it value they don't have. I have often heard people referring to .org as "usually authority/trust-worthy sites", even at university I've had professors who said we could always trust content coming from .edus/.govs and .org websites...

I like the .org extension as well, especially with an EMD, as mentioned.

Yeah I think the .O-R-G is the best route for me to go with this one then. What is the best way to search for a domain with an EMD?

I got the .O-R-G, let's see how it goes! Thanks for the help guys

I seriously just found a EMD .org with 1,830,000 local and 3,350,000 exact monthly searches. I was researching whethor the non-profit thing would matter. Best part about the domain is that its not trademarked either! I srsly just struke GOLD. Too bad the competition is wickedly hard. With a $3-4 CPC tho I'm just ganna go for the super duper long tails.

I didn't know these domains actually still existed! srsly a nearly 2 million EMD .org domain and its all mine!
