This is my experience as well. Working with a partner energizes me. Of course, the partner needs to be of the same mindset, and should add as much value as you, ideally.
But I think it's very hard to find a balance to "add equal value". Sometimes you may both feel that you are putting in more work than the other. Who is right?
I've worked with quite a few people (not really with IM, but other online projects), and as mentioned from previous users, money does things to people. I was working with someone for 6 months, trusted him a lot, spoke to him on a daily basis and one day he decides to disappear and take around $3-$4k in total. Just because you can trust them with $500 or $100, or even $2000, doesn't mean you can necessarily trust them with $10,000. Everyone has a price.
But further to that, there are things you can do that can help to ensure you're making the right choice by working with someone.
- Make sure they're mentally stable and don't do stupid / irrational stuff
- Make sure they're mature and willing to speak about any issues (if someone feels they're adding more value than the other for example)
- Keep the money split, don't let it accumulate in 1 person's hands.
- Keep a "split in power". For example, Person A is the owner of the CPA / Affiliate account. While person B holds the domain. Person A can hold the site files / hosting. Person B holds the social media accounts. (This way, both of you need each other, and if you're both reasonable and mature people, there should be effort made to resolve any issues if any pop up and also a common goal to work together).
Good luck to you OP!
