Referring domains vs Referring pages (backlinks)

Does the number of referring pages (backlinks) has any impact to websites rankings or it doesn't matter and the only important thing is the number of referring domains?

I was searching for the answer in the google and found a couple articles which are objecting against each other so I am a little bit confused at the moment.

Referring domains is what you are looking for. The number of backlinks should come from different sources (domains).

Referring domains. It's also possible that having a massive amount of backlinks and a smaller amount of ref domains can raise Googles eyebrow.

My website has 11 referring domains and ~300 backlinks at the moment. Could it look suspicious to google?

Nope. But keep in mind to avoid sitewide links that gives you X000+ links from 1 domain.
