ive heard when somebody shares your reel on their story, the story views count as reel views, is that true? And will those views boost the reel and fire up the algorithm so that it gets even more views?

Yes, when someone shares your Instagram Reel to their story, the views from their story count towards the total views of your Reel. This can potentially boost your Reel’s visibility within Instagram’s algorithm because it indicates higher engagement and interest from other users. Instagram’s algorithm tends to prioritize content that receives more engagement, including views, likes, comments, and shares. Therefore, if your Reel gets shared to multiple stories and receives additional views, it could help increase its visibility and reach a broader audience on the platform.

it could be that

even despite the story views not actually engaging with it? Like when they post it on their story, the viewers most likely wont click on it and drop a comment. So its just a bunch of views but no comments, isnt that pretty bad?

Apparently yes, it will count higher for interaction with your reel

Is that true for youtube, some video storytelling platforms. If it's an article, you have to click to be counted

yes it can but if the page is spam flagged it wont count

Interesting. If that's the case, you might end up with a lot of views but few likes and comments on your Reels. I don't think that's great for the Instagram algorithm. But it might be worth a try.

it can if it was really shared with other people and they watch it after, though i guess it just boosts your engagements not really the views.

Yeah, I'll be using it myself. And if you mutually share with your colleagues and friends, you can get an additional boost to your videos and views

Yes that's true everyone who reposts your reels makes the reels get a bit more "range". This can cause a chain reaction and your reels can become viral.

Yes, when someone shares your reel to their story, the views on that story do count toward your reel’s overall views
