Redirecting Site

Hi all,

Looking for some thoughts/advice on a situation, and if any of you have done this before, what the best action plan would be.

I have a good affiliate site, with good content, but not loads of content. But would like to use again.

The current site has been hit by recent penalties, as anchors are far too keyword heavy (this is what I believe anyway). What I am thinking of doing is buying a new domain or aged domain, redirecting current URL's to the new domain, and utilising content from the old site on to the new one.

Is this sensible?

The current site has very strong links, so don't want to lose this authority, but anchors are essentially so bad that I don't think the site will recover now.

Thoughts guys?

If you redirect your old site to the new domain, then Google may redirect the penalty to your new domain.

Redirecting your penalized website will make no good.

Just transfer your site from a domain to another and start off with a new clean backlink profile (which means, pick your expired domain with extreme precaution)

I would better start from clean website and not redirect

I don't know it's a penalty as such, but our traffic and visibility has been killed within the last 1-2 months.

Can you just give more details? which keyword has lost the most trafic, etc etc

I can't give specific keywords, but all keywords in top 10 have essentially disappeared. And we are talking 100+ keywords on page 1.

There could be a thousand reason for that, from technical, to linking, or just google updates. With not much details, just start off a new website, and follow the guidelines.

This is an old technique that Google will immediately (automatically) notice.

To use any of your old content you'll have to rewrite some of it to make it original again. Do not 301 the penalized domain, it'll only hurt you and do absolutely no good at all.
