I have an idea for promoting lots of mobile adverts:

1. Setup an access proxy for mobiles.
2. Configure the proxy to replace adverts from other provides with my own affiliate adverts.
3. Update users phone to use my proxy.

I can already do part 3.

My questions are:
Do people already do this?
How likely is it that I would get paid the ad revenue?
Do ad networks have a way of detecting this is happening?

Thanks,

mjack

Hi Mjack,

Nice idea - sort of like a phorm for mobile. Not sure if anyone does it for mobile at the moment.

I'm new to advertising but the destination website may notice that it's ad revenues are down for all traffic coming from your proxy if you are blocking the HTTP GETs to the ad from pages they serve up.

Guess it depends on what your advertisers are expecting. Would the ads you server have HTTP refers coming from sites they don't expect?

3) Do you mean update the apn and add the proxy values for your proxy? Some apns already use the proxy and won't work if you change it to another one so this may not work for all carriers.

TxF.
