Redirecting link juice only for Googlebot?

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to find a way to redirect link juice from an expired domain to a new one, but I want it so only Googlebot sees it. Ideally, users and tools like Ahrefs wouldn’t notice anything (they should see two different domains without any links to each other). So not a classic 301.

Any thoughts on how to pull this off?

something like this will do the job:

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} oldsite.com$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} Googlebot
RewriteRule ^ https://newsite.com [L,R=301]
this is used in cloaking too so use it with caution.

To redirect link juice without using a classic 301, consider cloaking techniques that deliver different content based on the user agent. Googlebot can be served a 301 redirect while regular users and SEO tools like Ahrefs see the original content. Be cautious, as this approach violates Google’s guidelines and risks penalties.
 
You're trying to do something tricky. Googlebot is smart, and it's very difficult to hide redirects from it. It's risky, too, because if you get caught, you could get penalized. If you're looking to transfer link juice, your best bet is a 301 redirect, but be aware that this will be visible to everyone.
 
I, personally, block semrush, ahrefs and the likes from my site using .htaccess file.
Tested Screaming Frog and it can't analyse my site.
 
if you just want to hide it from various of services, then you should make the redirect and block these bots from crawling the website,
could be easily done using htacess, implementing both the redirect 1st and blocking a list of such bots,
cloacking do work, but there's a minimal risk that you don't need to go through for this purpose

I am not sure about that. Maybe block bots like ahrefs and semrush, so they cant crawl your website history

I think some of you guys have not read this first lines. he needs to redirect link from one domain to another, so there needs to be redirect, which have nothing to do with blocking some other bots. And if the redirect is set only for google agents then other bots wont see that redirect.

I really don't understand why here in this forum some of you sell SEO services, and other kind of IM services but in same time you guys can't understand simple requests, or maybe don't put to much effort to read and understand it right, to can give some right advice in case you have some idea about the subject.

Np, glad it works. As I said work around it with caution, always when use stuff like cloak redirecting test before setting live. An easy way to test is to set on your inspect element on emulated devices with agents for bots which you want to test.

hi mate I have a question since you seem knowledgeable about the subject, if you don't mind.

I want to do some kind of ninjalinking for my site, leaving links on forums. But with a twist : I want the links to redirect to my site only if it is seen by google bot user agent. If the link is clicked by a random user or a forum's moderator they will be redirected to another legit site (like wikipedia etc).
Does your htaccess code above works for this, or do I have to build a more elaborate one and use a php script for instance, mentioning all the google user agents described here ? Thank you much

Cloaking works but if you get caught your site will be penalised.
