Redirecting Expired Domain or Using it?

So I came across a good expired domain, Like 1% MOZ spam score only.
The brand name is 'ok' but I can think of a better name and register a new domain name and redirect it...but should I?

Also, this is a old domain from 2010 but I dont find any web archive record of it at 2020 (probably it was without hosting for a year), is that ok?

It.s harder and harder to take advantage of expired domains, especially if you redirect them directly when you register them. Best thing you can do is build a website on it. But even so, it should be in the same niche.

spam score & domain age are minor things to actually consider with expired domains,
how good is the domain link profile & how clean its history are the only 2 major things to keep in mind

What @hideath said. Spam score is a very irrelevant thing when it comes to cleanliness. Heavily unreliable.

Domain can have a nice backlink profile, but if it were abused 5 times over for PBNs and who-knows-what, it will no get you far.

To check hosting history, go to Hosterstats. You can see where it was hosted and for how long. Whether it was merely parked or used for PBN purposes.

When it comes to redirection, it's not an ideal approach. It would be best to simply use a domain that's completely ready to work as a money site.

If you want to redirect the domain, I would recreate it from Archive, let it rest for a couple months and then I would just copy it to new domain and redirect it page by page.

Then I would start working on it with my own articles and all.
