Redirecting Back To Old Domain?

Quick question, has anyone tried redirecting back to old domain after they implemented the 301 redirect to new domain?
For example, let's say you redirected domain A to domain B 6 months ago. Has anyone tried redirecting Domain B back to Domain A now after 6 months to see the affects?

I've not tried it but it sounds like it will create an endless loop and you'll never be able to access either domain because they'll redirect to each other continuously. This will be hilarious :D

Not exactly what I'm talking about. There wouldn't be a loop because Domain A would no longer be redirected to Domain B. Only Domain B would be redirected to Domain A. The whole point of my question is to see how the rankings are affected if you noticed that the new domain isn't ranking as well as the old one, so you decide to redirect it back to the old one.

oh, I misunderstood you... I don't know what will happen in this case, sorry!
 
I haven't tried 301 , but on cross domain Canonical it screwed both domain ..i know it's not 301 but it act similarly..how about testing it out and let us know the result
