I did a redirect a week ago, would I have to do anything else? Like pinging, indexing or similar? Since I still can't see it on Ahrefs.

Ahrefs has it own crawlers. You don't need to rush it. If the redirect come from a good site, crawlers will go through it the sooner than the later.
My advice: if you have access to the server logs (i.e. apache) check for GoogleBot. You can use Screaming Frog Log File Analyzer tool to simplify this task of reading the log.

What about the Index status? Should a domain that is redirecting still be indexed even after redirecting?

No. Eventually it will disappear from Google results. I always blast it with some high quality links to give it a nice push. That way Google remembers it existed and Ahrefs et al pick it up quickly as well.

In my redirects experience, the redirected domains appear in google as the site it was redirected to.
