So google keeps breaking my SERP results :( it's making me sad. Google started displaying my PREVIOUSLY index'd site(which hasn't existed for over a year) and I can't figure out why.

Old site was https://domain.com but the company when they switched it, made it https://www.domain.com - so I've been trying to find a way to redirect the https:// to https://www. but I can't get it to work.

I've tried using a wide array of htaccess rules and can't get it working.

Anyone have any idea how to make this work?

Did you check Google Search Console and make sure that www is set as preferred? Also check you navigation, sitemaps, product feeds, rss feeds, etc. and make sure you are using the preferred hostname everywhere consistently. Finally make sure you have a canonical URL on every page pointing to the preferred URL.

After you clean up the host name confusion it can take a month or two for Google to clean it all up and get things sorted out.

I was definitely missing the preferred setting. Thank you!

Everything else is already configured/pointing at the www. version.

Yes submit in the search console and submit your sitemaps on webmaster. and wait for few days, it will definitely give good result..otherwise do some ping submission
