Hi,

lets say you have a website with a partial match domain. Your main money keyword is "loan". You built all your backlinks to the homepage.

Its like this: www.myloan.com

Would it be wise to redirect the homepage (301) to a inner page and basically change the root URL to www.myloan.com/loan/ ?

Advantage:
-exact match of money keyword in URL slug compared to partial match in the domain name - will that be a huge boost?
-I can use the SERP review stars on a subpage

Disadvantage:
-not sure if I would loose any link juice in this process
-it can be confusing for the visitor, that he cant access the root URL, because he will be redirected

What? No. Just put your content on the homepage and don't bother with the inner page.

Long story short, you just go into a big mess. 100% No.

Homepage is the most powerful page not inner page.
You are thinking totally wrong way.

Yeah, I get what are you saying. But still, I rank my main money keyword with my homepage - I dont get the advantage of the keyword in the URL slug (apart from the PMD domain) and also, I cant get the review stars in the serps with the homepage.

Most sites are optimized with an inner page for the main keyword, for me its the homepage...
