Redirect from X Domain to Y Domain

Hey,

1. I have an old domain that brings me lots of traffic from google. I want to redirect all the traffic to my new domain without hurting my current website. Is that possible?

Or once I re-direct from the main website to my new website, my main website won't get traffic any longer?

In the ideal scenario, the new website will simply replace the old one in everything including rankings.

All your rankings, traffic transfer to new domain in a few weeks. Sometimes, 301 redirects can be unsuccessful, so you cancel the process and redirect new domain to old one.
