Say you have a pets site. It's not the same to get a link from a very high authotitative site in the car industry than a link from a established pet site. EVEN if the car industry link appears to have more authority, the pet site is a lot MORE relevant to your niche which will help a ton more.

If a domain is with any of KWs "cat", "cats", "food", "foods" in the domain name, and your money site domain name has any of these mentioned KWs, you can set the 301 directly to your root.

If not, then make a new page on your website with a URL path having the domain name of the domain you want to 301 to your site and set acquisition 301 redirect. Don't forget to link from that page to your money pages.

The exact match relevance is the goal (ideally). So always make it as relevant as it can be (domain name, inner page URLs, topic,...)
