Redirect a penalised site?

Hi,

I have a heavily penalised website that still gains traffic from other sources other than Google.

It's pretty much never going to come back in rankings... What do you suggest I do to start a new site but keep my traffic?

-301 to the new site (will the penalty pass?)
-redirect to a single page on the site that will nofollow to the new website
-Any other suggestions?

Also is it a good idea to use a lot of the content from the original site or would it be better to start fresh?

Help is appreciated

That's a very interesting method of diluting anchors using another domain. Unfortunately my niche is fairly small and finding an aged domain with relevant backlinks would be impossible.

If doing a 301 redirects to the new site, take in mind that the G penalty will be passed onto the new site

I would still suggest do a 301 to the new site and then work on getting the pr with right backlinks, quality content etc.

So could one purchase a G penalty domain and 301 redirect to competition? I'm not saying I would do this, but interesting...

This isn't always true, there's ways to get around that.
