Redirect 301 Without Deindexing

Hi guys I need to do a 301 redirect (from my site.com to anothersite.com) and I don't want that my site.com (at least the home page) be de-indexed by google (should I use the redirect up for 3 months)....which code should I use in the .htacces file ?

If you use a 301 redirect, Google WILL replace the first link in the index with the second link...after a certain amount of time.

If you don't want the original link to disappear out of the index, you should use a 302 redirect instead...but these are NOT search engine friendly and it may damage your rankings.

but the 302 redirect does not pass the PR right?....

Let me explain (for ex. my site as PR0 the site where I do the redirect as PR5)... If I do a 301 redirect my site captures the pr of the site on which I make redirect...

if my site is de-indexed by google in the time frame in which the redirect is active, When i eliminate the redirect and my site will be indexed again by google my site that PR will? N/A? or 5?

basicly you put this in your htaccess(edit: the htaccess of your old domain)
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://newdomain.com/$1 [L,QSA,R=301]

and also request url change from google webmaster tools

[] = rewrite options
L = final = don't apply any rules if this rule matches
QSA = Query String Append (also copy everything after ?)
R=301 = Response code 301 (Permanently Moved)

In order to pass PR through a redirect it MUST be a 301 redirect. A 302 redirect will not pass PR.

By doing a 301 redirect, Google WILL deindex the site after a certain amount of time because you're essentially saying that the old domain has now moved to the new domain and the old one doesn't exist anymore.

By doing a 301 redirect, the new site will receive the PR of the old one if the redirect stays active during the next PR update. When you remove the redirect, the chances are that the new site will lose the PR in the PR update afterwards.

Those are the facts. You can't 301 a site and not expect it to be deindexed.

ok then let's say I do the 301 redirect and my site is de-index; When I stop the redirect and start to build my site google indexes my site again ....

at this point my site will PR have? n\a or acquire the pr of the site where I made the redirect?

If you are on cPanel, this can be done pretty easily via a UI. No coding required.

The most easy way to do a 301 redirect is this:

Setup wordpress for your site that you want to do the redirect on, and in the header php, put the following:

Code:

<?
Header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" );
Header( "Location: http://www.new-url.com" );
?>

The save.

That's it.

You are taking the risk when you 301 redirect with PR.

Google may or may not pass the PR.

After a few months, your PR could drop or improve, but this depends on the quality of content on your site (so more people naturally also build links to it) and the number of quality links pointing to your site.

How do I do that? I know the code?

Guys My problem isn't how to do 301 redirects...But how to keep my site indexed during the redirect 301....

Let me explain .... with the redirect 301 google de-index my site because he moved permanently.

When will the next PR update by google i stop the redirect from my site which now no longer indexed...then I start to build my site and do index by google. When my site will be indexed my PR will be N\A = not ranked

I want to know if there is a way to keep my site indexed during the redirect 301....

**IDEA: if I redirect only the home page by leaving unchanged all other sub-pages google don't deindex site right?

Guys, that trick is what I also want to know! How can I have the main domain url redirecting to an affialte link, but keep the content indexed in SE?
Any ideas. Cloaking through referer detection? Any working experience?
