As others said, Redditers are really weird and will lynch you if they find out you're advertising. Be careful you don't lose your high karma account!

I'm always wondering how does Reddit work. When the post is really interesting nobody leave comments on it. And when someone posts a picture or a link for some news it gets hundreds of comments and upvotes. So how to behave in order to gain some public to the post?

you just need to follow rules of every subreddit then you will always be on top with your every post, always post something interesting and in a reward you will get karma points and also you will get first position holder on front page of that particular subreddit. some times your post may got too much viral that your post will goes to front page of reddit as well.

It helps to space out your actual campaigns with organic non-promotional content. If you do run some sort of advertisement, having a history full of non-ads is going to help your sense of legitimacy.

Unless your spam agrees with their political views, then they let it pass. The main subreddits are spammed 24x7 by the same sites which have the same political views, no issues.

It's impossible to be on top with every post just following the rules. You have to create something that redditors like (and I have no idea how to do that) or simply repost a link of a news - it always works for some reason.
I wrote interesting posts with self-made illustrations and inforgraphics but no one likes it.
